Nicholas S. Tuffarelli is a seasoned litigator who employs a practical and sensical approach to his cases. He concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, bankruptcy and insolvency-related disputes. With two decades of courtroom and litigation experience, Mr. Tuffarelli is known for taking a practical, common-sense approach to litigation—focusing on efficient strategies that advance his clients’ objectives.
Mr. Tuffarelli has extensive experience litigating matters in Federal District Court, Bankruptcy Court and the New York State Supreme Court and handles all aspects of litigation from initial fact investigation through appeal. This includes preparing pleadings, conducting discovery, engaging in motion practice and trial.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Tuffarelli was a senior litigator at two respected Long Island-based law firms where he represented individual, corporate, and municipal clients in federal and state courts, including matters brought under the Bankruptcy Code, Section 1983 and Article 78 of the CPLR.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Tuffarelli served as an Assistant District Attorney with the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor for the City of New York. In those roles, he first-chaired felony jury trials and conducted extensive investigative and trial work—experience that continues to inform his strategic approach to litigation today.
Mr. Tuffarelli earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Albany Law School, where he was a member of the Albany Law Environmental Outlook Journal. He received his B.A., cum laude, in Political Science from Fairfield University.
He is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut, as well as before the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Southern and Northern Districts of New York and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
In his free time, Mr. Tuffarelli enjoys playing hockey, golf, and skiing with his family.
